Biography

     Gerard S. Antoine was born on November 5th 1969 at Chancerelles Hospital in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti as the second child of Jean Gerard Antoine and Marie Simone Nelson Antoine. He was raised in Port-Au-Prince with his three siblings, Lourdes Monime, Pascale and Reginald. His father, Gerard Antoine was a lawyer, professor and journalist who served his country with dignity, honesty and courage until he died at his home on February 11th 1997. Gerard grew up as a respectful and obedient child and was loved by his grandmothers Marguerite Pierre and Stella Nelson. He was very charismatic and enthusiastic which made him the leader of his family.

     Gerard attended the finest elementary Catholic School and private school of Port-Au-Prince (College Canado Haitien – Centre d'Etudes Secondaires and Petit Seminaire College Saint Martial). In 1990, He completed his high school at Petit Seminaire where he was a great athlete. He played football and basketball during his high school years. During February 1990, His graduation committee organized one of the best carnival festival for the students of Haiti with the current President "sweet micky", Michel Martelly and "Bookman experyans", the two best musical groups at that moment, until today "kem pa sote" is a classic revolutionary song in Haiti. Sometime in 1986, after the exile of President Late Jean Claude Duvalier, Gerard decided to get involved in politics later in his life and wanted to serve as an elected official. At this time, in his neighborhood a group of young teenagers formed a group named "Union of young people of Impasse Rodrigue" and Gerard was elected as the Vice President of the group.

     In Port-Au-Prince in 1991 just after his high school he attended the Military entrance exam but he was not qualified. In 1992, He attended Law school in Gonaives for one year and he was not able to finish it because of the long commute from Port-Au-Prince to Gonaives. In 1993, He attended Political Science School for two years and left the country in 1996 to immigrate to the United States of America where he lived with his aunt Philomene Antoine and his cousins.

     In 1998, Gerard attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, it was really challenging for him to study in another language but with his persistence and the grace of God he graduated in 2002 with the degree of Bachelors in Criminal Justice. In 2003 he attended graduate school at John Jay College of Criminal Justice for his Master's degree in Protection Management, where he completed his program.

     Gerard is a father of two children, his lovely daughter, Samantha E.Antoine who graduated from college this year and his God gifted son, Sanayel Jacob Antoine who will be in sixth grade this year.
